Avaya IP Office Phones
5400 series telephones are the most widespread devices attached to IP Office. They are connected to the IP Office using the DS (Digital Station) inserts and/or expansion modules.
The operation of 5xxx series devices is only supported by IP Office Systems.
2400 series phones are similar in functionality but can be connected to a range of other telephone systems.
As the devices increase in size, they become easier to user as they have more function keys and greater display options.
The requirement for specific functionality can have an impact on the choice of terminals to be used.
IP Office also enables the use of T3 series telephones for primary use in EMEA. The T3 range of display telephones combine traditional design with convenient communication at the very top level. They are connected to the IP Office using the DS (Digital Station) inserts and/or expansion modules. All the T3 series telephones have the following functions in common: Hard coded keys for frequently used functions, up to 24 programmable function keys, depending on the model, for frequently used functions, call log and message display. The programmable function keys can be individually configured. They can be customized either by service personnel using the configuration tool (Manager) or by the user himself.
The T3 IP phones can be connected to the IP Office as VoIP terminals with the same design and identical functionality as the T3 system phones (DS connection). They are operated via Ethernet using either Power over LAN or with a separate power supply. If the separate power supply unit is used, there needs to be one for each unit.
An optional DSS module is available for the IP Office T3 telephones. The DSS II basic module plus 2 DSS II expansion modules can be operated for each T3 telephone. The IP Office 500 can operated up to 30 DSS modules in total. As in the EU24, the DSS module also offers an increase in the number of function keys. The status display for the users, lines or functions assigned to the button is a red LED assigned to the key.
The Avaya 1608 IP telephone fits the user profile “Everyday”. It has a three-line display which can show up to 24 characters per line. As well as 8 labelable function keys with two LEDs each, there are three further soft-keys. The 1608 IP telephone also has 14 fixed function buttons which cannot be modified, for standard functions such as hold, transfer, conference, etc. It also has a “four-way” control element and an OK function to make navigating easier.
Connection to the Ethernet uses the integrated Ethernet switch. There is an additional socket for optional connection of another network card (e.g. for PC). The power can be supplied either through ‘power over Ethernet’ (class two) or through a separate power supply.
